those walls are such ineffable creatures aren’t they
at first they are cast in solid steel
impenetrable
solid
unmovable
insurmountable
then for some god-knows-what reason
with or without your knowledge or consent
they come down just a little
then sneak back up some
down
up
down
up
they start bouncing around all over the place
until you no longer have any control over them
but they never completely go away

protecting infection
infecting pain
painful rain
raining tears
tearful years
years of loneliness
lonely onliness
only walls
