Aria

Reaching for a song in silence,
I’ve dreamt it many times,
to follow it through the pits of hell
dancing it’s rhythms and rhymes.
The melody carries me along
whenever I get lost;
I try to harmonize my part
and reverb every cost.
The lyrics flow from high above
and filter through my soul
into the wonderment of Life
to make each lesson whole.
Sometimes the music [...]

Secretly

How do I write
the sun and the moon,
the lightness inside
a floating balloon,
the lover’s love
to fall and then swoon,
the dreamer’s desire
to sleep until noon,
the heart of a child
turned loose in June,
the eyes of an elder
divining by rune,
the keys of a piano
that’s slightly off-tune,
or the unwritten music
that ended too soon?
I sit by the ocean
in the mind of [...]

Steeled

Molten iron pumps throughout the cracks
beat by precious life-saving beat
of each and every stronghold wall
layered with twangs of cramping meat
too close to breaking by forsaking

and not making hasty retreat
back into the silent grace of dark
reinforcements cast and complete.

All’s Fair?

The momentary explosive thud!
A thought that halts in silent dreams
the tracks of singing shadow stalking
to pierce the night with echoed screams
of fightin’ words dare not be spoken
for fear of falling to extremes
in Love or War as casualties
the thought once turned to phrase redeems.

Thunder clapping and lightening flashing
the water spills and fills the ground
as creeping from around the corner
stalls the lifebeat from its pound
a nightly stalking shadow sings
and holds the restless spirit bound
by screams of nightmares’ gravitation
to dreams that never made a sound…

*Now, why do you suppose a shadow would stalk on a nightly basis…and what [...]

Shadow Play

Tall, foreboding shadow of the night
cast to scene by the wicked way
of familliar hauntings’ silent stirs
within the heart’s seen better day
a teasing want that crushes resolve
and cannot leave the dead to play
in reclusive darkness but instead
does thrust the light from out the gray.

The Stars

I wonder
as I gaze up at the stars
if somewhere,
way out there,
a star is looking back at me
and wondering the same…
What is interesting to me,
although sometimes sad to see,
is on the clearest of nights
with so many twinkling lights
that out there in the starkness
there is even more darkness
and though they still shine by day
the stars are hidden [...]

Out Of Water

I dug myself a deep hole
and blindly jumped right in.
On my own, I dove head-first
into that bottle of gin.
Like a lobster in the pot
I relaxed into sloe breath
while everything around me
almost simmered me to death.
It’s the ones I hurt the most
that have been my saving grace;
God was right in front of me
waving a finger in [...]

Love’s Bane

Dark and dreary stalks the storming rain
that taunts of midnight dreams again
will to spin and spin and spin in vain
out of control in this domain
of simple passion as yet profane
imagery calls into refrain
such the stabbing polished words of pain
beneath a brooding moon’s disdain.

Heavy Light (Haiku)

Love is all it’s own
and as soon the light is shone
never dies alone…
