Waking at once to wishes granted
from sleepless dreaming’s restless night
blinded by a lifetime’s memories
and 20-20 hind-foresight
the truth in times of settled spacings
launches a stranger fearful flight
into the yielding open foray
that hiding fires might ignite.

As far back as
my thoughts can go
I have been taught
not what you show
but how Life is
just plainly so
how things must die
not live and grow
how time will end
and blood will flow
how for your Love
I pay, I owe
It took a shock–
one fated blow
for me to see
my friend, my foe
and rise unto
a new plateau
to be myself
as you bestow
