The Stars

I wonder
as I gaze up at the stars
if somewhere,
way out there,
a star is looking back at me
and wondering the same…
What is interesting to me,
although sometimes sad to see,
is on the clearest of nights
with so many twinkling lights
that out there in the starkness
there is even more darkness
and though they still shine by day
the stars are hidden [...]

My Dream

Starry-eyed,
I dream awake
drifting on
a moonlit lake
wondering,
“Is more at stake
than what I
for granted take?”
Would I could,
for goodness’ sake,
seize the wrong
and right it make…
but alone
my heart doth ache
cycles of
hatred to break–
for then peace
on earth would shake
all I see
before me fake.
